Pool Safety Covers

Protection for your family and your pool.

A safety cover supports weight and prevents accidental entry. It protects children, pets, and anyone who might wander too close. We measure, order, and install covers fitted to your pool.

Why a safety cover

What a safety cover does for you.

Child and pet safety

Safety covers support significant weight. They prevent accidental falls into the pool. A standard tarp cover cannot do this.

Debris protection

Keep leaves, branches, dirt, and animals out of your pool during the off-season. A clean pool under the cover means a faster, easier opening in the spring.

Reduces maintenance

Less debris means less strain on your filter, less chemical use, and less time spent cleaning when you open in spring.

Extends pool life

UV light, debris, and harsh weather stay off your pool surfaces. This protects the liner, plaster, or fibreglass and adds years to your pool.

Our process

Each cover is fitted to your pool. The process is straightforward.

01

Measure

We take precise measurements of your pool, including custom shapes, steps, water features, and obstacles. The cover is ordered from these measurements.

02

Custom order

We order your cover from a trusted manufacturer based on your measurements and your choice of material. You pick the colour and we handle the rest. Typical lead time is two to four weeks.

03

Professional installation

We drill and set the brass anchors into your deck, fit the cover, and make sure every spring and strap is properly tensioned. The result is a cover that sits flat, tight, and secure.

Mesh vs. solid covers

Both types are safety-rated and built to support weight. The main difference is how they handle water and light.

Mesh Safety Covers

Mesh covers allow rain and snowmelt to filter through into the pool while blocking leaves and debris. They are lighter, easier to handle, and do not require a cover pump. We offer two quality tiers.

Standard Mesh

  • More affordable entry point
  • Blocks most debris
  • Lighter weight, easy to handle
  • Good option for budget-conscious pool owners

Premium Mesh (Our Recommendation)

  • Blocks more UV light, reducing algae growth
  • Blocks finer debris than standard mesh
  • A bit heavier but still very manageable
  • Costs less than a solid cover
  • Lasts longer than solid covers
  • Best balance of protection, durability, and value

We recommend premium mesh for most pool owners. You get better protection than standard mesh, longer lifespan than solid, and it costs less than a solid cover. It is the best overall value.

Trade-offs

  • Water may be slightly green when you open in spring (mostly standard mesh; premium mesh significantly reduces this)
  • Fine dust and pollen can pass through the mesh (mostly standard mesh; premium mesh blocks much more)

Solid Safety Covers

Solid covers block everything: water, light, and debris. They keep your pool water cleaner over the winter, but they require a cover pump to remove rain and snowmelt from the surface.

Advantages

  • Pool water stays cleaner and clearer over winter
  • Blocks sunlight completely, preventing algae growth
  • Faster, easier spring opening
  • No fine debris gets into the water

Trade-offs

  • Significantly more expensive than mesh covers
  • Shorter lifespan than mesh (7 to 11 years vs 10 to 15 for mesh)
  • Heavy and difficult to handle, especially for larger pools
  • Hard to store properly. Most homeowners fold them and leave them in a corner where mice and rodents nest in the folds and destroy the material over the off-season.

Fit and installation

A cover is only as good as its fit and installation. Properly measured, it fits tight with no gaps. Anchors drilled cleanly, springs properly tensioned, cover sits flat and secure.

We walk you through mesh vs. solid, explain the trade-offs, and make sure you are happy with your choice before ordering.
